New Zealand vs Pakistan 2nd Test Live Streaming: The 2nd test match between New Zealand and Pakistan is going to happen on 03 December, 2009 at Basin Reserve Stadium, Wellington.
With none of the senior players keen on batting at the number three slot, the Pakistan cricket camp is in a quandary over who to send in the crucial position during the second Test against New Zealand starting on Thursday in Wellington.
It was a well-deserved victory for the home team, but that was not a given when play started on the final day in Dunedin with only 126 overs possible after intermittent rain on the first two days. New Zealand went into the 2nd innings with a lead of 97 but managed to add only 153 to their total. Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif, coming off a ban for a positive drug test, had match figures of 8 for 151 and 8 Kiwi batsmen failed to post individual scores of more than 10. It was Ross Taylor’s 59 in addition to his first innings’ effort of 94 that got New Zealand to a respectable, yet not wholly unassailable, total of 250.
Pakistan’s chase got off to a rocky start as they lost three wickets for just 24 before partnerships between Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, and new kid on the block Umar Akmal steadied the innings . At 195/6, Pakistan seemed to have things under control until Umar was caught by Shane Bond of his own bowling. Two runs later, older brother Kamran was trapped in front of his stumps by Iain O’Brien’s delivery. Australian umpire Simon Taufel’s decision was challenged under the new UDRS (Umpire Decision Review System) used in this series. His decision was upheld which brought in the tail-enders. Skipper Daniel Vettori and O’Brien set the stage for New Zealand’s victory and Bond reverse swinging the ball off a well-worn fifth day track led Pakistan to fall short by 32 runs. His match haul of 8 wickets bagged him the Man of the Match award.

According to sources in the team, even Misbah-ul-Haq, who has been rushed to reinforce the team in New Zealand, is not keen to play at the number three position.
“Who will bat at number three has become a big talking point in the team meetings as now Faisal Iqbal has been asked to play at this position but even he is not keen to play at number three,” one source said.
The number three position has been left vacant after Younus Khan pulled out of the tour.
Younus, who was replaced as captain by Muhammad Yousuf, has been playing at the number three position in Test matches for the last few years with considerable success and scored a triple hundred in Karachi this year against Sri Lanka.
“The problem has arisen because neither Yousuf himself or Shoaib Malik are willing to volunteer to play at number three and now even Misbah and Faisal are uncertain about taking up this responsibility,” the source said.
Pakistan tried young Fawad Alam at this position in the first Test in Dunedin but he failed and the team also lost the match.
